From Sunday 29th April 2018
1.30 - 5pm
This course will be run over four consecutive Sunday afternoons - Please Bring:
100% cotton, good quality patchwork fabrics please - no polycottons
Nine fat quarters plus one metre of plain fabric (dark or light) to use as a base/background*
* NOTES ON CHOOSING FABRICS:
Making a patchwork illusion work relies very much on the choice of fabric; I would advise choosing plain or tone-on-tone
fabrics which read as plain at a distance - not large or multi-coloured prints, save these for another project.
Start by choosing three colours and select three fat quarters in shades of each colour; one each dark, medium and light. Make sure each of these is in contrast to the metre of fabric you use as a background.
Many people find making assessments of colour values quite a challenge, feel free to bring more than the specified number of fat quarters for each of your three colours so we can help you choose (please don't bring your whole stash!)
For piecing - a good neutral cotton thread
Nothing fancy required! with regular foot for piecing. Be sure to bring bobbins, foot pedal, accessories and the manual too!
General Sewing Equipment
Pins, scissors, hand sewing needle, soft pencil
Bring your own rotary cutter, but please leave your rulers and cutting mats at home
Don't forget your glasses!
NOTE: This is a Machine Sewing class.
Tea and coffe (and chocolate biscuits, of course!) will be provided during the afternoon.
